Hi Guys,

Its my pleasure to introduce my new website called http://blockfak.es

They say what’s in the name and I say that name is everything. Block fakes is a web application dedicated to twitter and it does few things.

Next 9-10 posts of mine will be dedicated just to this application and using twitter API with PHP. I am still working on improving the algorithm. It will happen over the time when I collect more and more data about SPAM accounts. The topic that I will be writing about will include

1. How to Mass block twitter spam
2. How to schedule a media tweet and just a status update for twitter timeline
3. How to bulk unblock twitter accounts that you have blocked in the past
4. How to Bulk follow known people for your favorite categories
5. How to bulk unfollow Inactive users
6. and then using twitter API with PHP…

Ok so lets get started with this post now. Shall we?

Alright I will be throwing some screenshots and try to explain what exactly going on.

blockfak.es is an application and first thing first that I am just trying to help people out. There is no spam activity associated with this application. You know why? because my name is associated with it and I hate spam and so do you right?

First thing first Signin to blockfak.es by clicking on that big button on the home screen as shown below

Once you do that you will be asked for your email address. Please provide up2date email address else your account will stay inactive and you will not be able to use the service. An activation email is sent to you and you will have to click on activation link to activate your account.

Once active just click on My Account link at the top of the page and you will see your profile and all other options for you account.

I will go through them one by one with my next few posts. But for this post lets just concentrating on using SPAM removal.

The menu is shown below

As you can see that there are few options in there.

You will need to start with option 1  that is “Customize and Execute“

Because you are using this application  for the first time thus system will ask to Analyze your followers. Click on that red button

Now your job will end up in out analyzer queue. This is a step when application build a temporary cache of your followers.

You will have to wait now for your turn. This step generally take 5 minutes to many 10s of minutes depending on number of followers you’ve got. Twitter only allow certain number of requests per 15 minutes of request window.

To proceed I assume that your job is now completed and you see a filter like the one shown below

This is where you have full control over who to label as SPAM follower. We autofill these values which you can override. The filter above will be improved further as the data start to build. But the above options are good enough to make an informed decision.

Ok now once you are happy with your filter settings you have 3 options.

1. Update filter: This will modify your filter. Filter will still be inactive
2. Get followers matching filter: This step is recommended. Because here you can see who you are going to block
3. Block accounts matching filter: This will put your filter in a Queue. which you can cancel before or while it is running.

Lets now check what will happen when you click Block accounts button

You job should start its run when a slot is available. You can goto Job monitor form the navigation menu that we saw before.

Once running your monitor screen will look like this

You have an option to abort this filter anytime.

That’s it. While your filter is running refresh your twitter.com page to see your SPAM followers are getting blocked.
